Happy 2012!

While I generally despise January- all that cold and gloominess- I love the clean slate and unlimited possibilities of a new year.  I am thrilled by the promise of my new, clean, unblemished calendar, not yet bogged down, cluttered and messy with sticky notes and loose papers everywhere.

I don’t typically make resolutions, partially because my inner converstions usually go something like this:

“this year I will be grateful everyday”

“this year I will exude patience and calmness, even in the most trying circumstances”

“this year I will only eat healthy  and organic hmm, it’s really cold outside. Yay!!! I get to wear my new boots!”

Because it really is all about the accessories. Ok focus… At Airlie Moon we’ve been talking about starting a blog for a while. In life, as in business, I sometimes get comfortable. All of that “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…” But the world is changing at warp speed around us and it is crucial to adapt and embrace those changes. We have successfully entered the world of online retailing and social media. We are newly obsessed with pinterest. And now, we enter the blogosphere.

At first, I was reluctant, but the more I thought about it, the more comfortable I became with the idea. This won’t be one of those self indugent, naval gazing pretentious blogs. I PROMISE! I intend for it to be what Airlie Moon is all about: the things we love. Our shop has always been so much more than our products:

It’s about our family…my mom and dad and I realized a dream when we opened our shop in 1994.

It’s about our incredible staff over the years who have become family to us.

It’s about our friends- from day one our friends became our customers and our customers became our friends.

It’s about our lovely products from vendors whom we respect and admire.

It’s about the music we listen to, the books we read, the food we eat…three of our favorite topics.

It’s about that signature Airlie Moon fragrance. If only we could transfer scent through cyperspace.

It’s about Airlie Moon style.

I hope you will enjoy what we have to share. It comes from the heart. And let’s be clear, this is only happening with the help of two of my favorite people (who also happen to be style icons): Christine Brueck graphic designer extrodinaire and creator of the Airlie Moon website along with my dear friend and fellow Airlie Moon blogger Libby Cartier. Since I wasn’t sure I would have enough to say (really), I have enlisted the help of longtime compadre, former staffer and current editor Libby. And the only person I could entrust to making our blog look like Airlie Moon is my remarkably talented and wickedly funny friend Christine. What a gift: to be able to work on a project with such creative and fun ladies.

So here we go, ready to weigh in on what we love, what makes us laugh and what makes our hearts sing.
